Cherry Almond Smoothie
I can’t believe how fast this weekend went by. There have been such a range of emotions this weekend from nervous to blissfully happy to utterly sad. My brain is on “do” mode. In other words, I’m going through the motions and trying to keep it together, but I know that very soon, I am going to collapse from exhaustion.
Yesterday I found myself in the kitchen for the first time since Wednesday which was cathartic and peaceful. I blended up a new smoothie, which came to fruition in my noggin earlier this week. I also stirred up some of my GG’s famous snickerdoodles; these cookies are meant to bring sweetness to any occasion. My best friend’s father passed away this week and I knew that these cookies would ultimately demonstrate my sympathies.
Do you have a recipe that you like to share with people who are going through hard times?
For those of you who read the blog last week, you know that I also attended a wedding and a birthday bash this weekend. These celebrations were some of the highlights of my weekend. At the wedding, my three sisters and I were able to reunite for the first time this year. It was wonderful having everyone together in the same place. We danced, drank, and laughed a lot. Amaya’s birthday party was also a beautiful day. I may have fallen asleep in a lawn chair during the latter part of the afternoon (I’m so tired).

My aunt, Amaya’s grandmother, also hired a woman to do pony rides. The kids loved petting the horse and riding around the yard. The woman who was in charge of the pony rides also brought her new pet, Skippy. Skippy is a baby wallaby. Talk about cute.

All week I knew I wanted to do something with the cherries in my refrigerator. I wanted to make something that was not too fussy and could be enjoyed in a few minutes. Whenever I feel this way, I usually resort to making a smoothie. Cherries. Almond. Chocolate. Total win! This smoothie is sweet, fruity, and nutty. It’s a great snack or meal for breakfast.
